Our annual elections results are in! Congratulations to Willie E. May, Ph.D., who will be our new president-elect. May is the vice president of research and economic development and professor of chemistry at Morgan State University, Maryland's largest historically Black university. He is a AAAS Council member for the Section on Industrial Science and Technology and on the Advisory Committee for the STEMM Opportunity Alliance, a national initiative led by AAAS to achieve STEMM equity and excellence by 2050. May’s term begins immediately, and he will serve as president-elect for one year, followed by one year as AAAS President (and chair of the AAAS Annual Meeting), and one year as immediate past-president.Congratulations are also in order for Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., and Vassiliki Betty Smocovitis, Ph.D., who were elected as the newest members of the AAAS Board of Directors.
