Trusted voices and accurate news reporting are essential in countering the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and other unsubstantiated claims. By working together to ensure our local and regional newsrooms and outlets have the resources and support they need to include scientific facts and context in their stories, we’re all better positioned to make evidence-informed decisions, particularly as we approach November’s elections.

Speaking of science communication, I had the opportunity to hear incredible talks by Eric Horvitz of Microsoft and Dario Gil of IBM that bookended a remarkable day of enriching discussion and visions of the future at the Science & Technology Policy Forum, "Actionable Insights: Seeding Our Way Forward in AI." We’re grateful to them both—and all who participated—for their excellent presentations, and to Gil Omenn for making Eric’s Omenn Grand Challenges Lecture possible. Read about it here.
