This past Thursday, Congress passed a fourth continuing resolution to temporarily fund the U.S. federal government for the 2024 fiscal year. While we avoided a government shutdown, this is not a time to celebrate. Check out the flow chart AAAS created on the long-winding federal budget “process” that publicly kicked off nearly a year ago.
The federal government is on the brink of facing across-the-board cuts in spending. Congress has until April 30 to pass full-year appropriations bills or there will be long-lasting consequences across the STEMM enterprise. Read AAAS CEO Sudip Parikh’s statement about what’s at stake.
