    Exciting news for science and health! Filipa Godoy-Vitorino, a longtime AAAS member and former President of the Caribbean Division, is leading the COBRE: Center for Microbiome Sciences in Puerto Rico, the first microbiome research center in the Caribbean. This initiative will advance research, training, and innovation, benefiting public health and ecosystem conservation.

    With $11.3 million in NIH funding, the center will support studies on microbiomes' impact on sleep, aggression, epilepsy, and cancer treatments while also fostering scientific mentorship. Puerto Rico is now at the forefront of microbiome research, driving global collaboration! Read more in the latest press coverage in Spanish here.
