    Hello Everyone,

My name is Briana Hudson, and I am the Assistant Director of Community Engagement at AAAS. I work closely with the Local Science Engagement Network (LSEN) to support STEMM professionals in building meaningful connections between science and the communities they serve.

I'm excited to share two upcoming virtual events from the AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues (EPI Center), a valuable resource for connecting policymakers and decision- makers with actionable, evidence-based insights. These events offer great opportunities to engage locally and explore how science can address critical challenges.

The EPI Center focuses on delivering clear and concise scientific evidence to decision-makers at all levels, making it easier to integrate evidence into policy and public decisions. Their work supports more informed and effective solutions to societal issues, and their events are an excellent way to connect with their expertise.

On Monday, December 4, from 2:00–3:30 PM ET, the EPI Center, in collaboration with the MOST Policy Initiative, will host a briefing on food access and food insecurity. The session will feature a panel of experts discussing the challenges of food access and sharing successful strategies used in rural and urban communities nationwide. It's a must-attend for anyone interested in understanding how evidence-based approaches can improve food security. You can learn more and register here: Food Access Briefing.

Then, on Wednesday, December 11, from 2:00–3:00 PM ET, join a thought-provoking discussion on AI bias in public-sector decision-making. This event will explore how local, and state governments can use AI tools effectively while avoiding potential biases. Experts will provide insights into mitigating risks and ensuring equitable deployment of AI in government operations. Learn more and register here: AI Bias Webinar.

We'd greatly appreciate it if you could share these opportunities with anyone who might benefit from attending.

These events are excellent opportunities to learn, connect, and consider how the EPI Center's resources can enhance your engagement efforts.

    Best regards,
    Briana Hudson
    Assistant Director, Community Engagement
