Scientists and engineers are engaging with their local communities on climate, energy and environmental issues – even in these polarizing times. Find out how and ask scientists Brenden McNeil and Douglas Rao your questions about this crucial topic at our Expert Q&A: Engaging Communities for Action on Energy and Environment. You can submit questions now and during the members-only event Noon to 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 24.
Engaging Communities for Action on Energy and Environment
April 24 from Noon-1 p.m. ET
Brenden, based in Morgantown, WV, studies how forests respond to human-caused global change and works with local communities to highlight the benefits of forests. He is a professor at West Virginia University where he teaches courses in Climate System Science and Environmental Geographic Information Systems. His collaborative research on remote sensing and forest ecosystem ecology has been funded by NSF, NASA, and the USDA Forest Service. In Asheville, NC, Douglas uses machine learning to track global temperature change and its impact on ecosystems and community health. He recently brought together the science community with faith-based communities to discuss hurricane resilience in his region. As LSEN Liaisons, Brenden and Douglas connect STEMM professionals with community needs-and they're here to help you do the same.
