Until an LSEN Community is added to my state, what are some ways I can start getting involved or resources I can use/look for to assist me as I begin to get involved in my community? Are the documents in the library still good up to date resources to use?

    Thank you in advance!

In the past have talked with local coffee house manager, to get the ok to bring in my consumed journals (i.e., Science, Nature, Physics Today, ...).  This resulted in informal local birds-of-a-feather discussions. A lot of respectful dialogue over a cappuccino.  I offered to give technical or professional develop talks to local science student groups, which led to invitations.

I think it sounds like a great idea. What is the next step?

Thank you for the input, Randy. How did the informal conversations come about? Just wondering how you were able to get in contact with others if you were simply leaving copies of journals at coffee shops. Were you leaving your contact info in the journals as well?

    Randy,
    We have similar tactics.

I take copies of Science, and Nature onto my local fishing boats from Dana Wharf. The crew, and other anglers do read them. The trips I am on last 5 hours. There are usually one or two interested readers. I also leave the journals onboard.

    Hey Jesse,

It's great to hear that you're eager to get involved with LSEN! I love the idea that Randy already shared with you. Here's some more good news: we're creating community engagement learning resources and activities that you would be able to use in your area. You'll be among the first to know once they're up and running. I applaud your enthusiasm - that's the kind of energy needed to make a positive impact!

Thanks for reaching out, and let's keep in touch!

That's great, Lili! I would love to utilize them once they are available. I believe the area I live in could benefit from building trust with the scientific community. Thank you!
