June is Great Outdoors Month, a month-long celebration of the outdoors encouraging everyone to embrace the outdoor spirit of America and head outside into the natural world. We celebrate our nation's vast array of waters, parks, wildlife refuges, forests, monuments, bird and marine sanctuaries, national conservation lands, and other natural physical treasures.

Help us spread the enjoyment of nature photography and explain how images are used to advance the cause of conservation for the protection of plants, wildlife, and landscapes in our communities.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing-from you all:

    1. Everyone's nature photos and the stories behind them, and

    2. How everyone is doing their part to encourage and advance conservation.

And don't forget these June dates:

June 5-World Environment Day (let's beat plastic pollution!!)

    Thank you for sharing Elliot.

With regards to the great outdoors, I will be participating in our last fossil dig with the Dry Dredgers until October on May 27th. It will take place at the Hueston Woods State Park in Butler County, Ohio. There will be a wide variety of fossils from the Ordovician period. I hope to find a trilobite!

In June, I will be visiting my parents in Central Florida. Whenever my husband and I go there, we kayak at the Wekiwa Springs State Park. In December, also in Florida, we drive up to Blue Spring State Park to see the Manatees. If you love manatees, that is the place to be!
