Thank you for sharing this information Paul.
The Ohio Academy of Science hosts State Science Day (Science Fair) each year. This will be my first year participating as a poster judge, and as a scientist that students will have the opportunity to meet during a lunch event. Science fairs are excellent opportunities for students to present their work, and become inspired by STEM professionals. I hope to be there to not only provide helpful feedback, but also to encourage and inspire them to continue to build on their work.

Subject: Local science fairs need judges!
I am the VP for the Junior Academy of the Washington Academy of Sciences (in DC). Among other things we organize judges for local science fairs. This is a great opportunity for supporting local science and engineering activities. Schools all over the country have a tradition of science fairs. They are not always well done, but this is an entrenched tradition and we can leverage it for promoting science to both students and their teachers. I encourage you to get in touch with your state's academy of science(s) if you are motivated to serve as a science fair judge. You can also contact the National Association of Academies of Science (naas.org) . If you are in the DC area, please contact me at jracademy@washacadsci.org. Thanks!
