  • 1.  Rest & Reset! Share your favorite vacation moment 🌞

    Posted 07-25-2025 02:17 PM

Summer vacation has always been one of my favorite ways to pause, reset, and return with a fresh perspective. This summer, I had the chance to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. It was just the recharge I needed. From peaceful mornings on the water to stepping into the ocean and feeling completely present, it was a reminder of how valuable it is to carve out space for rest, reflection, and to create memories with loved ones.

One of the highlights was simply being able to slow down and enjoy the moment. That can be hard to come by in our day-to-day routines. I've also been more intentional this year about taking photos to capture life as it's happening and hold onto those meaningful moments just a little longer.

Here is a picture of the beautiful beach view from my trip. One of those small moments that will stick with me.

If you also took time away this summer, I'd love to hear what helped you reset, whether it was travel, time with family, or just a quiet moment for yourself. It's always inspiring to learn how others create space to rest and recharge.

Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts is pristine. Just like the rest of the Cape, there are no big corporations. I was with most of my immediate family. Picture postcard days; a whole week of them. We rented an "old house" that was essentially modern on the inside. Even though there was no air conditioning there were plenty of fans. A phenomenal cafe I recommend is Mac's Shack because of the stellar menu of seafood and drinks. A quiet town, especially peaceful after sundown. There are shops, but all locally owned and operated. We ventured north by automobile to Provincetown one afternoon to look around. Surprised to find a ferry to Boston. The National Seashore is also within reach. I recall rejoining the surf one hot and beautiful July day to find the waves ice cold and refreshing. The thing about the Cape is that it is almost entirely a nature preserve. Incredible mystique. Great place to retire. I always fantasize about winter on the Cape. It must be both desolate and pure.

For me, I found my reset much closer to home, right along the Detroit River. A visit to the Riverside Park offered me a surprising and much needed moment of calm. There's something incredibly grounding about the place, the rhythm of the river, the breeze carrying just enough quiet to help you hear your own thoughts again.

I spent time simply walking, taking in the skyline views, and letting the stillness of the space clear away the mental clutter. It reminded me that the most meaningful moments happen when you step outside your normal routine and give yourself permission to just be.

Looking back, I'm reminded of how beautiful everyday scenes can be when you slow down enough to notice.

That sounds so grounding and beautiful. It's amazing how much clarity can come from just being still near the water. Thanks for sharing that moment, such a great reminder to slow down and take in what's around us.

Thanks for bringing up this topic, @Briana Hudson! Time away from our usual day-to-day is often a memorable experience well worth sharing.

Like @Margaret Sena Akpo, I visited a nearby river in the mid-Hudson Valley region around Poughkeepsie, NY.

Historic estates, such as Samuel F.B. Morse’s Locust Grove Estate and Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Home and Presidential Library, were great for connecting with the past to gauge changes in the present.

The trails, gardens, architecture, and views also provided a variety of perspectives, helping to reframe where we are today.

A visit to a vineyard and connecting with people in the area were unplanned and welcome engagements.

What a beautiful mix of history, nature, and connection in your trip. The Hudson Valley truly offers so much, and that picture is absolutely breathtaking! I've never been there, but you've definitely convinced me to add it to my list. Thanks for sharing!
