    Does your state have an Academy of Science organization, i.e. Ohio Academy of Science, The New York Academy of Sciences, Texas Academy of Science, etc.? If so, what programs do you think are the most beneficial to professionals and students, and why?

    Maryland has an Academy of Science, which seems to be oriented towards education and outreach.

    Looking for your state or regional Academy of Science?
    The National Association of Academies of Science (NAAS) has a directory of Affiliated Academies at https://www.academiesofscience.org/  so you can find all of them. I'd encourage you to get involved- you may find leadership opportunities doing community engagement, working on state-level science policy, mentoring young scientists, and presenting and publishing research. Some State Academies offer grants, scholarships, and awards.

    The Kentucky Academy of Science has 4000 members and our annual meeting convenes about 700 scientists each fall. Our members give a hoot about raising the profile of science in Kentucky and I love being able to support the good work they are doing! They advocate for science, teach science, communicate science, do impressive research, and develop partnerships across sectors & disciplines that keep our scientific community strong. https://kyscience.org/
