On July 26, 2020, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) turned 30. This landmark legislation opened opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in all aspects of society, including employment. This year also marks the 75th observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual event to raise awareness that disability is a strength—and companies that provide the right inclusive environment reap powerful benefits. Attend the Department of Labor’s Upcoming NDEAM Event! The U.S. Department of Labor will host a virtual celebration of the 75th annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month and the 30th anniversary of ADA. “Building a Future that Works” will be held on October 20 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET.

The event will explore the crucial role of accessible technology in relation to this year’s NDEAM theme of “Increasing Access and Opportunity” for people with disabilities, and the Labor Department’s work to ensure that emerging technologies are accessible to all in the workplace.
