Calling AAAS Student Members!

The AAAS Office of Government Relations is pleased to announce that the 2026 Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering (CASE) Workshop will be held in-person in Washington, DC, on April 12-15, 2026.

This entry-level program is organized to educate STEM students who are interested in learning about the role of science in policymaking, to introduce them to the federal policymaking process, and to empower them to become a voice for research throughout their careers. The workshop is designed for undergraduate and graduate students in STEM fields with limited experience and knowledge of science policy and advocacy, who want to learn more.
AAAS will sponsor up to four AAAS student members to attend the workshop. The application requires a resume or CV and an up to 500-word statement of interest answering the following questions:
  • What interests you about science policymaking and advocacy?
  • What do you hope to learn from the workshop, and how do you hope to apply your experience throughout your career?
Applications are due January 26, 2026. View and submit the application here.

To be eligible, you must be a member of AAAS in good standing and currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate (preferably upperclassmen) or graduate degree program (including double majors) in the United States in one of the following fields:

  • Engineering disciplines
  • Medical and health sciences
