The next #sciengage webinar will share and discuss the ‘Support Systems for Scientists’ Engagement and Communication” initiative led by the Kavli, Rita Allen, Packard and Moore Foundations. This initiative viewed the system of people who support scientists’ engagement efforts – including communication trainers, scientific societies, universities, and facilitators of engagement. Through landscape reports and workshop discussions, practitioners, researchers and other leaders explored opportunities, and limitations, people face. This session will include an overview of what was learned and discussed, an overview of outcomes and activities generated from the series, and a discussion of the priorities and opportunities identified. Brooke Smith, the Kavli Foundation’s Director of Public Engagement with Science, will lead the overview and discussion. Landscape report authors, participants, and people leading next steps will also join to share their thoughts. This is a great opportunity to learn what was discussed, hear about next steps, and contribute to further development of ideas to strengthen the work we all do to support scientists’ engagement, and science’s connection with society.
